Check out your Object Desktop, StarDock Central accounts folks, newest release is out. Some issues that have been discussed in forums the last few days (week or so) have been addressed. We now have our Tray Icon back. The "My" has been removed from
our panels, leaving it as "Skins", etc. Taskbar not skinning on occasion: fixed. TaskPanel repaint: fixed. Make sure and update! Happy Skinning!!

Luis, I had the same problem: can you try to uninstall the 4.90g versions and make an install from SD Central?

That's exactly what I had to do -- uninstalled from Stardock Central, the reinstalled after rebooting my computer and it worked.

For the x64 users, it actually is working in this release; the one snag (which I suspect is an honest mistake by the developers) is that you need to run "WBInstall64.exe" in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds" before you can run wbconfig, but then it works wonderfully.

However, you have to do this every reboot, I haven't tested whether adding it to the startup programs changes anything.

Anyways, thanks for the x64 support.

I can confirm that softparadigms solution works on my computer as well

I'm running WinXP 64bit as well with the same error. If I go to the windowblinds directory and manually execute WBInstall64.exe and then wise_post.exe then wbconfig.exe, it allows me to apply a skin and runs fine; the tray icon is also loaded. However after reboot it fails once again. Windowbloinds fails to integrate into the display properities.

Because "we" are using Windowblinds, and I am a product user, not programmer.

It seems I created an attractive thread though.

Weird. Computer runs WB4.6 perfectly but I can't update to WB5. Everyrtime I try, on doing the recommended restart the computer won't start properly. I get as far as the wallpaper being up but explorer refuses to start, I just have the "hourglass" and mouse pointer sat alternating every so often in the middle of the screen. Even Ctrl Alt Del doesn't work and the taskmanager won't come up. I need to reboot into safe mode and run a system restore from there to fix it and get back to WB4.6. I have tried just installing from SDC and also uninstalling 4.6 first before loading 5 but it makes no difference.

Windows XP Pro, SP2, 1.3 Duron, 256 RAM, Radeon 9000 Graphics Card (currently running the latest Omega drivers but have tried a few sets including latest from ATI website but no difference)

Is WB5 that much more of a system hog than 4.6 then? As I say, never had a problem with 4.6. WB5 runs fine on one of my laptops which only has a PIII 700Mhz processor and an 8Mb on-board graphics chip, but admittedly does have 312 Mb RAM, also running XP Pro.

AFAIK it should be more optimized than 4.6 and I had no problems with my 800MHz Duron and Geforce2

No, well it shouldn't be. On my machine it runs more quickly and uses less resources than WB4.6. Can't remember exactly where now, but I read that WB5 is more integrated into the OS and is designed to use far less system resources than WB4.6, so if your machine ran that okay, then it should be able to run WB5 with those same resources, given that your graphics card supports it.

This update doesn't let Vista XP glass norma WB5 have transparent title bar, but the compact version of it is transparent. odd .
