How would I...

...use WMP activex to run media, without opening the full player. I have seen some DX widgets that use this method. TIA.

Sysmetrix uses winamp. Winamp has settings which allows it to run as described.

As I described? I've never gotten it to do so....

Winamp not WMP

yeah, I understand. SysMetrix uses WinAmp. But actually, it uses whatever default media player you have installed, I know this because I just used a button that I made to test the looks of it and accidently pressed it and let go. Thinking that I had not given a target for that button, much to my surprise WMP10 pops up, bigger than life. Then I downloaded and installed Winamp 5.1.1.1 lite, made it default. I tested the button again, giving no target. Winamp started in full made, just as did WMP10.

Which is why I wanna know if I can somehow just use the active x, like this media player which Tiggz and Martin colaberated with Richard Mohler on:Link

There is a place in the Sysmetrix configuration for external programs. I believe it's under "Interactive Buttons" Check the documentation for how to implement but I believe this will work your way.

I went through the Winamp config and I can't find the setting that would let you run it remote control. Maybe it's been left out of the free version now.

I learn something everyday. Can't do anything with it, but I learn it.

I figured it out: Use winamp, in classic mode skin. Enable Tray Agent. As long as you make button-links to all the controls, I am set. Thanks for everyone's input.

I knew there was a way, it's just been so long since I included Winamp controls I forgot how.

Now, if I can just get brewman's permission to upload, I can share with everyone!
